Beware Of Job Offers In Conflict-prone Zones- Foreign Affairs Ministry
The Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has cautioned the public against accepting job offers and citizenship permits in conflict-prone countries.
It comes after some Ghanaian men, who claim to have enlisted in Russia’s military service for the Ukraine war, praised a travelling agency for facilitating their travel and enrollment into the Russian Army.
The Ministry, in a statement, advised Ghanaians to prioritise their safety and well-being when offered jobs in regions with potential risks of conscription and armed conflict.
“In light of ongoing conflicts and the risk of conscription in certain countries or regions around the world, travellers are strongly advised to exercise caution and carefully consider their travel plans.”
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration wishes to caution the travelling public to be wary of the activities of middlemen/agents who purport to have the ability to secure citizenship, resident permits and job offers in conflict areas and countries at war as these journeys are perilous and often have dire consequences.”
A viral video of five men in military accoutrement supposedly in Russia fighting against Ukraine touted Fly Away Travelling Agency for securing them their job outside Ghana.
“Trust them and they will bring you to Russia and you will become a soldier. This is not a lie. We are all from Ghana. We are Ghanaians. Look at our guns,” one said.
