Berekum Chelsea Choose Coach Samuel Boadu Over Annor Walker
Berekum Chelsea have appointed former Hearts of Oak head coach Samuel Boadu over former Great Olympics gaffer Daniel Annor Walker as new Manager.
Annor Walker earlier confirmed taking over the Blues was imminent as he said he had held discussions with the leadership of the Club.
In a brief statement on March 5, 2024, the Club however said the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League winner was the next head coach.
Coach Boadu will replace Christopher Ennin, who reportedly left the job last month to join Hearts of Oak as the Assistant coach.
“We officially announce the appointment of Mr Samuel Boadu, as the new gaffer of the club. Coach Boadu brings on board his rich experience and expertise,” it said without details of the contract.
Coach Boadu’s first assignment with the team will be witnessed in their match against Accra Lions this Sunday.
Berekum Chelsea are currently sixth on the log with 30 points after 19 games. They have recorded nine wins, seven losses and three draws. Hopes are high for Coach Boadu to write history with his new club by leveraging on his experience.
With Hearts of Oak, he won five trophies in 18 months including the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League title.
He previously coached Fantomas FC, FC Porto, Honeymoon FC, Latex Foam FC, Shooting Stars FC and Medeama SC.
Between 2021 and 2022, he served as assistant coach to the Black Satellites.
Meanwhile, Annor Walker who was sacked by the Olympics earlier this week told Footballghana.com he had reached an agreement with Berekum Chelsea during an interview.
He is quoted to have said, “It’s true. I have had talks with Berekum Chelsea and a move to the club is imminent. An agreement has been reached between us, and I’m just waiting for confirmation from them.”
