Bawku Mediation: Govt to Facilitate Safe Movement of Alhaji Seidu Abagre to Nalerigu

The government has announced plans to facilitate the movement of Alhaji Seidu Abagre, the purportedly enskinned Bawku Naba, to Nalerigu.

This is in accordance with a recommendation by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, as part of the mediation process of the Bawku Conflict between the Mamprusis and Kusasis.

He is expected to be in Nalerigu, where he will remain available to receive the directives of the Nayiri.

It comes as the government accepted and endorsed the report.

In its definitive statement, the government agreed to the Mediation Report and its Recommendations that Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II is the lawful Bawku Naba and that Alhaji Seidu Abagre be recalled to Nalerigu by the Nayiri to assume an alternative traditional role.

In the view of the government, the report constitutes a comprehensive, fact-based, and forward-looking roadmap aimed exclusively at achieving lasting peace, reconciliation, and stability in Bawku and its surrounding areas.

It emphasised, “It is not intended to apportion blame or confer victory on any party.”
