Bawku Conflict: Ken Agyapong Pats Mahama for Committing to Otumfuo Mediation Process

Former Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong, has patted President John Dramani Mahama for committing to the resolution process of the Bawku chieftaincy conflict by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene.
In a statement, he hailed the gesture of the head of state as a statesmanship.
He observes that President Mahama has prioritized the country’s welfare over partisanship.
“I commend President Mahama for committing to the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II-led mediation process, originally established by President Akufo-Addo. This is true statesmanship-putting Ghana above partisanship.”
The former Chairman of the Defence and Interior Committee of Parliament urged all parties and stakeholders to also commit to the process.
“Let us support this effort wholeheartedly. When Bawku is at peace, Ghana is stronger. We must move forward together.”
This was contained in a statement expressing his deep concern about the recent escalation of tensions in Bawku and its surrounding areas.
“The cycle of violence and reprisals continues to harm innocent lives and disrupt our path toward national unity.”
He thereby urged the youth to choose peace.
“No matter how deep the grievance is, violence is never the answer. Our future depends on peaceful coexistence.”
