Bantama MP Financially Supports Female Poultry Farmer
In a heartening display of support, Member of Parliament for Bantama and Minister for Works and Housing, Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye, has offered financial assistance to a budding female poultry farmer within his constituency.
The beneficiary, Ms. Elizabeth Boakye, previously employed as a teacher in a private school in Kumasi, has taken the bold step to venture into small-scale poultry farming. Her decision stems from the financial limitations she experienced while relying on her monthly salary as a private school teacher, which was inadequate for her and her children’s well-being.
Grateful for the support, Elizabeth expressed her appreciation for the assistance from Hon. Asenso-Boakye, who contributed Five Thousand Ghana Cedis (Ghc5,000) to boost her agricultural venture. With this support, she aims to maximize profits and provide better care for her children and herself.
“I am dumbfounded…I called Chief (MP) late at night and appealed to him for financial assistance to expand my small poultry farm. Shockingly, he asked me to visit his office the following day, and he provided me with the exact amount I needed. I am overjoyed. May God bless him and grant him a long life. Now, I am confident that I can run a more successful poultry business and support my children and myself,” said Elizabeth.
The Member of Parliament for Bantama, expressed his admiration for her interest in agribusiness, particularly at a time when the Nana Akufo-Addo government is striving to attract more youth to the agricultural sector.
He advised Ms. Elizabeth Boakye to use the financial support for its intended purpose and encouraged her to work diligently to expand her business. He also indicated his willingness to provide employment opportunities for other young people in the sector in the future.
Hon. Asenso-Boakye pointed out that his office has extended similar support to several youth engaged in various fields, including shoe making, hairdressing, fashion design, and other private businesses within the Bantama constituency.
He affirmed his commitment to supporting his constituents as long as he has the means to do so.
