Bagbin Hints Of COVID Booster Shot Roll Out For MPs & Parliamentary Staff
The Parliament of Ghana has set out a COVID-19 booster shot vaccination exercise for the lawmakers and parliamentary staff.
The Speaker of Parliament, RT. Hon. Sumana Bagbin, in a letter to the president, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo, made this notification.
The exercise will take place ahead of Parliament’s recommencement on January 25, 2022.
The exercise, according to Hon. Bagbin is a way of containing the spread of the Omicron variant of the Coronavirus pandemic in the precinct of Parliament.
“Prior to the resumption of the House, Parliament intends to undertake a COVID-19 (booster) vaccination exercise for Hon. Members of Parliament and officers of the Parliamentary Service, as part measures to contain the infection and spread of the coronavirus Disease within the parliamentary precinct, particularly in the wake of the spike in infections as well as the new wave of the Omicron variant of the disease”, a part of the letter to the president said.
