Baba Yara To Host Ghana’s 1st World Cup Qualifier

The Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region will host Ghana’s first of 10 qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in mid-November.

Ghana is in Group I together with Madagascar, Mali, Comoros, Central Africa Republic and Chad.

The Black Stars will hold two qualifiers this month beginning with Madagascar at 16:00 GMT on Friday, November 17, 2023.

Next on the list will be a game against Comoros at the Moroni Stadium on November 21 at 19:00 GMT.

It is expected that the Black Stars will deliver positive results after their disappointing friendlies against the United States of America and Mexico last month.

Matchdays three and four of the qualifiers will come off in 2024 specifically in June against Mali and Central Africa Republic (CAR).

It will be followed by a home game against Chad and then a return fixture against Madagascar from March 17, 2025, to March 25, 2025.

Meanwhile, Coach Chris Hughton’s side will host Mali after a clash with Chad in a return fixture in early September 2025. It will be followed by Ghana’s last two matches against Central Africa Republic and Comoros from October 6 to October 14, 2025.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be staged in Canada, the USA and Mexico between June and July 2026.

Ghana will be seeking to make their fifth World Cup appearance with the qualifiers after qualifying for the tournament in 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2022.
