August 6 Helicopter Crash: See 5 Recommendations of Investigative Team

The investigative Board of the August 6 helicopter crash has proposed six safety recommendations to forestall recurrence.
They were outlined while publicly presenting the report on November 11, 2025.
“The accident was an unfortunate and sudden weather-related accident. Implementing the safety recommendations will prevent the recurrence of future accidents,” Aircraft Accident Investigator Captain Paul Forjoe said.
Below are the recommendations:
1 There is a definite need to modernise the fleet of the Ghana Air Force. We have recommended that the Air Force acquire modern aircraft with terrain avoidance warning systems and modern navigation systems.
2 That the aircraft of GAF should have cockpit voice recorders and flight data recorders, which are audiovisual capable types. The Air Force should invest in simulators for recurrent training.
3 That GAF contract certified aviation providers
4 Ghana as a nation should have En route Navigation Aids, especially in remote areas. Air Forçe should consider establishing Flight Data Monitoring and En Route tracking systems.
5 GAF needs to acquire ground support to modernise what they have
Crash
A GAF helicopter crashed on August 6, 2025, in Adansi Akrofrom in the Ashanti Region, claiming the lives of Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence, Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator.
It also claimed the lives of Dr Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Mr Samuel Aboagye, Deputy Director-General, NADMO, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manden Twum-Ampadu and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
