One More Person Dies of Mpox

One more death has been recorded as the number of active cases soars in some parts of the country.

As of September 28, the total number of deaths was three, while active cases were 657, up from 565 since the last update from the Ghana Health Service (GHS).

“36 new cases recorded, bringing the total number of cases to 657.”

It added that one person was on admission.

Mpox spreads mainly through close contact with someone who has the infection.

The GHS has since encouraged people to protect themselves by avoiding close contact with infected persons; washing hands often with soap and water; and avoiding regular touching of the eyes, nose and mouth.

It has also encouraged the members of the public to report to the nearest health facility when experiencing symptoms like fever, rash, headache, muscle aches, or swollen lymph nodes.
