Asantehene Wines and Dines with Ghana High Commission Staff in South Africa
The Monarch of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has wined and dined with the staff of the Ghana High Commission in South Africa.
The event hosted by the Asantehene took place on March 15, 2026, in Johannesburg as part of the second Akwesidae Festival of the year.
Leading the staff were His Excellency Benjamin Anani Quashie, the Ghanaian High Commissioner to South Africa.
The event also brought together dignitaries from across the world.
Addressing the guests, Otumfuo said dining with the staff of the High Commission is a tradition he has adopted for a while.
“Today is not for diplomacy or anything. It is for breaking bread….I normally invite the staff to come and break bread with me. Interestingly, today falls on an Akwasidae, so it’s a combination of me inviting my children to come and also celebrating Akwasidae.”
Also present at the event were Ghana-born Ambassador of Angola to South Africa, His Excellency Joӓo Baptista Domingos Quiosa; Founder of A&C Development, Mr Andrew Kwabena Asamoah; Son of Esama of the Benin Kingdom in Nigeria, Bright Igbinedion; and Renowned Ghanaian financial mogul, Mr Kofi Sekyere.
