Asantehene To Visit Dagbon
The King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has plans to visit the Dagbon Kingdom in the Northern Region to experience the peace and tranquillity prevailing there.
He made this known to a delegation from the Gbewa Palace of Yaa-Naa Abukari II, the overlord of Dagbon, during a courtesy call on Tuesday, February 13, 2024.
However, His Majesty did not provide much detail about the timeline for the visit but he hinted that it will take place after his 25th Anniversary celebration.
Though he said Yaa-Naa has previously discouraged him from the visit, he will embark on the journey regardless.
“I’m yet to visit. The 25th Anniversary, I’m expecting my brother to come for us to celebrate together. After that, I will visit him there to experience the peace. He said I shouldn’t come but I will come,” he told the delegation.
Otumfuo made this statement when emissaries from the Yaa-Naa visited to express the latter’s profound gratitude and admiration for Otumfuo’s ability to amicably resolve the protracted conflict between the Adanis and Abudus, two ruling families in the Kingdom.
The delegation, led by the Paramount Chief of the Zangbalin Traditional Area, Dr Jacob Yakubu Mahama included the Chief of Pishigu Traditional Area, Alhassan Andani; the Ashanti Regional Dagomba Chief, Alhaji Fuseini Abu; and the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Gbewa Palace, Nabapra Musah Yakubu.
