Asantehene Refers Akwasiase Dispute to Committee

The Occupant of the Gold Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has referred the long-standing dispute involving Akwasiase to a four-member committee.

Three traditional leaders including Bantamahene, Asafohene and the Queen of Soodo are laying claim to the town.

At the Kumasi Traditional Council meeting on July 14, 2025, Otumfuo constituted a committee and tasked it to investigate the matter at hand.

“Find out the individual who founded the town. That is what I look up to.”

The Committee includes Dadiesoabahene, Ankobeahene, Terchirehene and Kyeame Amoateng.

The Committee has a month to present its report.
