Asantehene-funded Adako Jachie Training Facility Renovation Starts Today
A project to turn the Adako Jachie training complex of the Asante Kotoko Sporting Club into a state-of-the-art facility befitting the standard and status of the Club of Century has begun today, July 25, 2024.
This project is fully funded by the King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II who is also the Life Patron of the prestigious and enviable club based in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
Under the banner, “THE KING’S PROJECT”, the club announced on Wednesday that it will be in phases.
“We are delighted to announce the commencement of the transformation of Adako Jachie into a state-of-the-art training facility.
“This ambitious project, fully funded by His Royal Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, will be executed in multiple phases. Today marks the beginning of Phase One.”
The project- whose first phase included a 30-bed dormitory, a technical block, a medical block, a player’s block and a recreational area- began in October 2020 and was reported to be nearing completion in October 2022.
The project stalled even before the Board of Directors of the Club under whose tenure it began was dissolved in 2023.
During a meeting with the Asante Kotoko National Circles Council (NCC) and the Asante Kotoko Old Players on July 21, 2023, to find solutions to the plights of the club at the time, His Majesty resolved to visit to get first-hand information about the state of the complex which was still under construction.
Together with the stakeholders, he made the visit to the venue the next day where he determined to make it befitting after he was shown around and taken through the architectural design.
