Asantehene Donates To Communities In Obuasi
Otumfuo Charity Foundation has made heartwarming donations to students in Obuasi communities yesterday to help them learn while at home following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Coronavirus (COVID-19) has caused many disruptions which have sent shivers down the spines of many across the world. This has negatively affected economic activities and the education system is no exception.
Schools were shutdown since Ghana recorded its first case of the pandemic in March and the education of some students and pupils have suffered as a result.
As part of Asantehene, His Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, firm resolve to provide viable assistance to students even at home through his foundation, he has given out hundreds of textbooks and other educational materials to students within Ashanti Region.
The Communities that benefited from the donations included Apetikoo, Sanso, Dokyiwaa, Binsere, Ntonsuo, Mmamiriwa and Adaase.
The team in subsequent days will visit other fifty-three communities to donate to students.
Head of Education under Sustainability Development at Anglogold Ashanti, Mavis Nana Yaa Kyei led the delegation for the distribution of the textbooks to hundreds of students.
Otumfuo Charity Foundation was partnered by AngloGold Ashanti and the Ghanan Education Service.
