Asantehemaa, Lady Julia Declares Support; Donates Towards Prisons Reform Project
The Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III has made a donation worth 10,000 cedis towards the GMB 2021 winner, Benedicta Sarfoa Asamoah’s Prisons Reform Project.
The Asantehemaa as the special guest of honor at the official launch of Sarfoa’s Prisons Reform Project at Manhyia Palace amidst the donation declared her support for the initiative.
Nana Ama Konadu, Eseresohemaa who spoke on behalf of Nana Konadu Yiadom III mentioned that she’s amazed at the GMB 2021 winner’s initiative to help prisoners and therefore sets the example to allow for more contributions towards the project.
“Some prisoners are able to acquire some skills by the end of their time but fail to get the support to start something and so for you to take it upon yourself to extend a helping hand to such persons pleases me, therefore, I make this donation just for the start to set an example for others to also contribute towards your initiative”.
As the guest of honor, Lady Julia Osei Tutu, the wife of the Asantehene also commended Sarfoa for pulling the title as Ghana’s Most Beautiful and also for embarking on the prison project.
Pledging her support to the GMB winner, she assured of support from the Manhyia Palace and the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation.
Lady Julia also encouraged all others to also contribute their quota towards the initiative.
“Sarfoa, well done for the good initiative because we are all aware of the issues ongoing at the various prisons, and with your project attention will be drawn to that area. Let’s all support Sarfoa for the flourishment of the project as she expects. I’ll say to you that Manhyia is always behind you and at the right time too we will see to your engagement with the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation for any possible aid.”
Sarfoa has launched the Prisons Reform Project to reinvigorate the prison service whilst breaking social stigma and prejudice for a smooth reintegration into society after he s served.
the launch saw the attendance of the Kenyan High Commissioner to Ghana, H.E Eliphas Barine, the Director-General of the Ghana Prisons Service, Mr. Isaac Kofi Egyir, the General Manager for Media General, Mr. Francis Doku, Sompahemaa, Mrs. Irene Kyei Mensah, past GMB beauty contestant as well as other dignitaries.
