Asante History To Be Digitalised
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has relayed interest in digitizing the history of the Asante Kingdom.
A delegation from the church at Otumfuo’s palace revealed the church’s plans to carry out the project to uphold the cultural values and ethics of the kingdom.
The church’s 1st counselor in the Africa West Area, Elder Larry S. Kacher informed that they have the vision to also embark on the construction of a temple in Kumasi which will “increase job opportunities in the region as well as promote the spiritual life of the people.”
He disclosed the church’s interest in supporting the Otumfuo Education Fund to help support the King’s vision in terms of education and made presentations to it.
Latter-day Saint’s “Light the World with Love” project was also said to be launched soon to provide support to widows across the country where 350 households will benefit from the distribution of food items.
Elder Kacher was in the company of his wife, Sister Pauline Kacher, Area Legal Counsel, Richard Arthur Burton, Communication Director for Africa, West Area, Emelia Ahadjie amongst other leadership of the church.
The delegation was led by Francis Addai Nimo.
Otumfuo was of great pleasure to have the ancient activities of his kingdom digitalized.
“It was my desire to have my history digitalized because losing my records means losing my history.”
He lauded the delegation for the widowhood project and looks forward to more developmental projects from the church.
“I will be the first to worship in your temple” after its construction.
