Appointments Committee Fulfilled Oversight Mandate By Vetting Baffoe-Bonnie- Okaikwei Central MP

The Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central, Patrick Yaw Boamah, has taken a dissenting view on the vetting of Chief Justice nominee, Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie.

He believes the vetting of the nominee fulfilled the Appointments Committee oversight mandate.

“On Monday, 10th November 2025, the Appointments Committee fulfilled its oversight mandate by vetting Chief Justice nominee, Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie. May God grant us wisdom and strength as we work diligently for God and Country.”

The member of the minority caucus in parliament took to Facebook on Tuesday to air his views after his colleagues, led by the Minority Leader Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, registered their protest and voted against the nominee, stating emphatically that the Committee’s report should reflect their position as such.

The Minority Leader petitioned Speaker Alban Bagbin seeking to defer the vetting process until the pending court cases challenging the dismissal of former Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo were resolved.

It was, however, dismissed.
