Another ₵10 Million Defamation Suit Filed Against Captain Smart
Broadcaster and host of the Good Evening Ghana Show, Paul Adom Otchere has reportedly filed a defamation suit against the host of Onua Maakye on Onua TV, Captain Smart.
This is the second suit filed against Captain Smart this month.
The plaintiff is seeking ₵10 million in damages.
He is also seeking an order from the court to cause Captain Smart to retract and apologise for some defamatory comments; and he wants an injunction restraining the defendants from further publishing and causing to be published the said similar words about him.
According to Adom Otchere, the defendant made reckless and malicious publication about him during his show on August 26, 2022.
A Pulse Ghana report has quoted Captain Smart to have said that “Nana Addo cannot sack Ken (Finance Minister) because they are both corrupt. Paul Adom-Otchere is my senior but he is a fool. The Asante Bediatuo and Gabby who have been giving you money say you’re an idiot. You’re fooling a lot. Stop it.”
“Why do you want to redefine conflict of interest? If you are not careful, politics will make you a useless being at the disadvantage of the ordinary,” Captain Smart said on Onua TV according to Pulse Ghana.
In a related development, Captain Smart and his media organisation, Media General Limited have been sued by the Member of Parliament for Bantama constituency, Francis Asenso Boakye for defamation.
The legislator is among other things seeking ₵10 million in damages.
