Ameri Power Plant In Kumasi To Be Considered – Energy Minister

The Energy Minister, Hon Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has informed that he will ensure the extension of the Ameri Power Plant in the Ashanti Region.

The Ameri Plant will facilitate the power issues in the region and help deal with the power outages experienced lately.

“The region hosting a power plant will be of great benefits in the sense that there wouldn’t be disruptions with energy and will make effective power supply to the northern and other sectors as well”.

The minister made the revelation at Asantehene’s Palace when he introduced the management of Gridco, VRA, and Electricity Company to Otumfuo whilst updating the King on the cause of the power outages experienced in the region lately, saying the inconsistencies are a result of disruptions by a Glo telephone mast which saw Gridco, VRA and the electricity company of Ghana mast destroyed.

He said, renovations to that effect are ongoing and assure that their services will soon go back to normal.

The Manhyia South MP asked for support and prayers from the king as they embark on the journey.

The Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II in his response said, said his hope has been raised seeing the minister brief him on the happenings in their sector and encouraged that all effort be exercised even if it takes a loan to improve the situation.

He said he believed him and his delegation to do so because he’s done well whilst serving as the education minister.

With the extension of the Ameri Power Plant to the Ashanti Region, Otumfuo stated that they act quickly with its existence sending a word of caution through the minister to Ghana gas to perform their duties as required.
