Alleged Zammarama Line Shooters In Police Grips
The Accra Regional Police Command has said it has in its custody, three persons suspected to be involved in the shootings at Zammarama Line over the weekend.
In a viral video, a group of persons dressed in military uniforms were captured firing gunshots into a crowd of angry youth.
It is reported that the contention was over a piece of land under dispute.
The shootings resulted in injuries to four persons as well as two of the alleged shooters.
In response to the incident, Juliana Obeng, the head of the Public Affairs Unit at the Accra Regional Police Command said “Police have arrested and taken into custody, a soldier, Sergeant Isaac Abbey and two other persons Godfred Amegbor and Ofei Darko for their alleged involvement in a shooting incident on a disputed piece land at Zammarama Line, a suburb in Accra”.
Per the police report Godfred and Ofei who were in military uniform “posed” as soldiers and in their statements, claimed to be one, however, investigations haven’t established it.
“Investigations are ongoing and all the suspects will be taken through the due process of the law”, the police said.
