Akufo-Addo Hands Over Motorbikes, Vehicles To Ghana Police
The Ghana Police Service has received motorbikes, Toyota Hilux pickup vehicles and armoured personnel carriers from the President.
The handing over was part of a ceremony to commission renovated parts of the National Police Headquarters in Accra on Tuesday, February 21, 2023.
The Headquarters Gate, the CID Gate, the ICT Gate and the main CID block are the parts of the headquarters renovated.
Commending leadership of the Service for the facelift, President Akufo-Addo said the renovation creates a sense of orderliness and discipline in the minds of its patrons.
President Akufo-Addo presented 600 motorbikes, 100 pickup vehicles and six Armored Personnel Carriers known as Marauders to the Service for use by the Formed Police Units (FPUs) in all regions of the country.
In his speech, the President said the provision of the vehicles forms part of the government’s commitment to the continuous retooling of the Police.
He said, “It is borne out of the fact that the Police plays a critical role in the development of our country, hence the need to ensure that the Police Service is adequately resourced to discharge its duties for the safety and security of all of us, as well as for the growth of economic activity.”
