Akufo-Addo: ECG Monthly Revenue Increased By 25% Due Digitalisation
The monthly revenue of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has increased by 25% due to the digitalisation drive of the government, the President has said.
He said the Company began an aggressive digital transformation programme in the last quarter of 2022.
“In the first phase of this programme, set to be completed by end of April 2023, the focus is on creating a cashless and efficient payment system.”
As part of this, President Akufo-Addo said, district offices of the ECG became cashless on March 1 this year.
The programme is earning the Company a 25% increase in monthly revenues, he said.
He continued, “the second phase of the programme will see the digitisation of postpaid bills, and the digital tagging of all metres”.
By the end of the drive this year, the government says, revenue leakages will be a thing of the past with the monthly revenues of the ECG increasing by 40%.
