Akufo-Addo Appoints 3 New Ambassadors

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has commissioned three new ambassadors for the country following the last appointment two months ago.

At an event held at the Jubilee House on August 7, 2024, he named his Deputy Chief of Staff, Alhaji Aliu Fawaz as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Major General Charles Kojo Abedi Awity as Ambassador to Serbia, and Mr Peprah Ampratwum as Ambassador In-Situ.

In a post on Facebook, Alhaji Aliu Fawaz who is the Parliamentary Candidate for Zabzugu Constituency, expressed his appreciation for the confidence reposed in him.

He is confident the wealth of experience he possesses from his previous service in the Foreign sector will be of great use in the new space.

“Yesterday, 7th August 2024, I had the distinct honour of being commissioned by the President of the Republic as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary – At -Large.

“Having served in Ghana’s Foreign Service for over a decade preceding my appointment as Deputy Chief of Staff, I feel particularly privileged and grateful to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo for this high appointment…I look forward to continuing to serve our dear nation to best of my ability in this additional role.”

During the last appointment in June, the President came under public backlash for the timing and essence of some of the appointments, particularly one that was given to his Secretary, Nana Asante Bediatuo.

Bediatuo who was appointed as Ambassador-at-Large was among nine persons handed credentials on Monday, June 25, 2024, to serve as diplomats.

This appointment was opposed as unnecessary.
