Africa Is Still Under Western Manipulation – Otumfuo

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, believes Africa is entangled in the manipulative yoke of the West.

The King observes that the manipulation that misled African ancestors persists in the current dispensation.

“Africa is still being manipulated by the West. Even in this era of technology, we are still being manipulated. So, under the circumstances during my forefathers’ time, we have the same even now,” he said during a courtesy visit by the Alabama Lawyers Association (ALA).

His Majesty asserted it was imperative that Africa broke forth from the bondage of manipulation.

“It is for us to build together to extricate ourselves from whatever circumstances we have.”

This, Otumfuo said, could be done by leveraging existing human resources.

Meanwhile, the King welcomed the group and opened his door to all Africans in the diaspora.

“It’s under the circumstances of history that we find ourselves divided like that. When you come like this, we know our brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers, are coming back to us… I would always love, cherish, and welcome you here.”

His Majesty emphasized their belongingness and urged them to be proud of their heritage.

“I welcome you all home. It’s a delight to see you. Whatever circumstances that took you there, you left us here. It’s very good that you’ve come back to your own land where you belong… I want you to believe that you have somewhere you belong and that you must accept.”

For her part, the ALA President, Aigner Kolom, stated that “Asante is in our veins,” as she referenced a popular statement by Ghana’s first leader, Kwame Nkrumah.

“One of the quotes that I have heard that resonates with all of us is, ‘I am not African because I was born in Africa but because Africa was born in me.’ We know the blood of Asante is in our veins, and we are so excited to be here. We thank you and ask that you give us your blessing.”
