Affordable Housing: Government Projects In Reality Is Not Affordable – Sammy Gyamfi
Communications Director for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Sammy Gyamfi has shared his displeasures about the government’s Affordable Housing policy which is not able to cushion Ghanaians in terms of accommodation.
Speaking with the media, Mr. Sammy Gyamfi said the living conditions of public servants coupled with the unbearable economic conditions of the country have subjected the people to work throughout their lives and are unable to put up a single room for themselves.
He stated that Affordable Housing as the government projects in reality is not affordable. This is mainly because a bag of cement now sells at GHC 65 which is capable of being sold at GHC 70 soon.
As a country we do not have a strong, vibrant affordable housing scheme to cushion public servants, he said.
He, therefore, commended the Executive Secretary heading the Public Servants Housing Loans Scheme for introducing more innovative ways erupting affordable housing projects to cushion public servants in respect to the said matter even in the midst of these economic woes.
