Adum PZ Fire: We’re Bringing In Bulldozers to Pull Down Buildings and Structures for Access- Security Official

The Deputy Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator, Alhaji Alhassan Tapsoba, has disclosed bulldozers and excavators are being deployed to the Adum PZ where a fierce fire is sweeping through shops to pull down structures and buildings derailing the firefighting efforts.
Addressing the press after leading the Regional Minister, Frank Amoakohene, to assess the situation as the fire kept spreading on Friday morning, the official said the firefighters had done a yeoman’s job though the fire persisted.
According to him, the fighters from 11 different stations are doing their best; however, he said their efforts were being curtailed by challenges that have to do with accessibility.
“The fire Service in fact did their best. The main problem is how to get access to where the fire started. Had there been a way through, they would have finished their work within 30 minutes…There is water in the tenders but getting to where the fire is our problem right now.”
According to him, wooden structures erected along the railway were the primary obstruction to the fight.
“That is the major problem causing the fire to rage the more, When we went upstairs you saw the fire was raging.”
He said military officers and bulldozers are being brought in to clear all the obstructions.
“We are bringing in the military to clear all these things from here so that the Fire Service will get access. We are bringing excavators and bulldozers to come and clear the road so that the fire tenders…If the excavators come they can help about 60% because they can enter into the fire and clear the path. Even if it’s a house we will {break through}.”
The Regional Fire Commander, his Deputy, Operations officers, and other District Commanders are at the scene overseeing fire management.
He anticipates it will take about four hours to successfully douse the flames.
Meanwhile, the affected traders are counting their losses.
