Adowa Safo Visits NPP Headquarters For “Postponed” Disciplinary Hearing

Former Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya Constituency, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has visited the head office of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Accra for her hearing after being referred to the Disciplinary Committee.
The former lawmaker was scheduled to meet the committee on April 7; however, the meeting was postponed, per a letter dated April 6 which went viral on Monday.
While addressing the press on her arrival, she confirmed receiving a notice for her appearance but denied knowledge of the postponement.
According to her, the only notice she received was passed on to her by her security guard after church on Sunday.
She was expecting to be served the same way she was served with regard to the summon.
“I haven’t been personally served. You served me to appear personally,” Adwoa said, adding that she had been busy preparing with her lawyers to meet the Committee throughout the night after her summon.
“I haven’t seen anything with my security guard as they did yesterday {with the summon} that the meeting has been postponed. I’ve been preparing with my lawyers but I haven’t received any such notice which is why I am here.”
Background
Adwoa was referred to the Disciplinary Committee two weeks ago after she defied the party’s orders for members to cease public discussions on internal wrangling of the party.
A part of a statement issued by the party announcing her referral said her actions are in disregard of the directive and also undermines the Party’s efforts to rebuild and move forward.
According to the statement, she has violated Article 3(5) of the Party’s constitution, which, amongst others enjoins members to promote and defend the good name of the Party.
