A/R: Residents Gripped With Fear After Brutal Killings; Request Police Protection
Fear and panic have clenched residents of Santase -Apire near Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital, following recent gruesome murder by yet to be identified criminals.
According to Opemsuo FM’s Kwame Owusu, eight(8) people are on record to have been murdered in the area recently over suspicious reasons, including a woman in her forties (40)s some months ago.
As part of the Reporter’s routine working visit report, Kwame Owusu told host of Opemsuo FM morning show, George Opoku Mensah that the residents, as a results of these unfortunate deaths of neighbors are therefore appealing to the Ghana Police Service to beef up security in the area.
“Many are flustered and have asked for police patrols to curb future occurrences”, according to our reporter, Kwame Owusu.
Assemble Member for the area, Hon. Samuel Amankwa, attributed the cause to underdeveloped environment where he suspects unscrupulous persons are using as their hide out.
Similar incidents were also recorded at Asokwa, and Atasamanso.
Marks on the bodies of some of the victims showed signs of sexual assault, with instances , used condoms dropped at the scene.
“Areas, where they are killed, are not areas which are very busy. By the time you wake up the following morning, you hear that somebody has been killed and the Police would have to move to the scene… to investigate,” said Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. Simon Osei Mensah at a Regional Security Council meeting.
