A/R: NDC Allegedly Sets Up Committee to Take Over Management of Kejetia Market

A 13-member Interim Management Committee has allegedly been established by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to oversee the administration of the Kumasi City Market until a substantive management committee is formed by the incoming NDC government, led by John Mahama.

This was contained in a letter dated 10th December 2024 and signed by one Sakyi David.

The letter is directed at the current management headed by Mr. Kofi Duffour for joint management of the facility.

“The above committee wishes to inform you that the underlisted names have been appointed as our interim members to join your management team to run the market from now to the time of handing over power to the new government,” the letter partly stated.

The 13 Interim Management Members include Sakyi David, Chairman of the committee and Alhaji Anwar Sadat, the Secretary.

Other members include Nana Prempeh Amankwa, Yaw Afari, Alhaji Ibrahim Justice, Umar Saeed Usman, Haj Rasheed Bansi, Suleman Abass, Mohammed Awal, Mohammed Riyad, Nuhu Abdulai, Suhayi Iddrisu and Shaibu Seidu.

The letter failed to state reasons for the move.

Efforts by Opemsuo Radio to reach Sakyi David and leadership of the NDC in the Ashanti Region for clarification have proved futile.

Meanwhile, management of the Kumasi City Market (Kejetia) has refused to comment on the matter despite acknowledging receipt of the letter.
