A/R: NAIMOS Disrupts Galamsey Destruction of Cocoa Farms at Adanse Anomabo

The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operation Secretariat (NAIMOS) has raided several cocoa plantations with ongoing galamsey activities in the Adanse Anomabo village of the Bosome Freho District in the Ashanti Region.
On Monday, 8 December, the task force conducted an intelligence-led operation to flush out galamseyers after receiving petitions from the cocoa farmers’ association.
It reports that an observation of an illegal mining site called the Kakra site, where the galamseyers had caused massive devastation to the cocoa plantations, causing serious anger and despair among the farmers.
“Though the galamseyers fled the illegal mining site upon the approach of the Taskforce, their tools, equipment and other instruments left at the site were destroyed by the troops.”
A total of 6 excavators were immobilised, while one pump-action gun and seven cartridges, discovered at the site, were also seized.
Additionally, several makeshift structures, which served as shelter for the galamseyers and pipe hoses, were set ablaze.
