A/R: Armed Robbers Attack Senior Police Officer at His Residence

A manhunt has been launched after a senior police officer was attacked by armed robbers at his residence in the Ashanti Region.
This was disclosed by the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Christian Yohuno, during a courtesy call at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on May 9, 2025.
Earlier, there was an attack on one of our senior officers at his residence. He and his team will work very hard to arrest those perpetrators.”
He made the disclosure while briefing the King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, about the security situation in the Region.
According to him, the Regional Police Command, led by DCOP Emmanuel Teye Cudjoe, has been instrumental in maintaining law and order and providing security in the entire region.
He said their efforts have led to a reduction in attacks on Mobile Money vendors, which recently were on the ascendency.
“I’m happy to say that the new Regional Commander is working tirelessly. Recently, there was a resurface of attacks on MoMo vendors where a woman and one other person were killed by the robbers who attacked them. The President was so concerned that before my swearing in, he tasked me to work tirelessly to put it to rest.
“I charged the Regional Commander, and with the assistance of the National Security Coordinator, we worked as a team. Nana, I would like to announce to you that the officers here managed to get all those perpetrators. We have arrested them all.”
Mr Yohuno also touted the efforts of the patrol team, which he said led to the arrest of some suspects on Thursday.
“Their patrol teams are very effective. Last night they made some arrests…I know that will not be the end of it, people in the Ashanti Region are having relative peace as far as that crime is concerned.”
He assured that the requisite assistance will be provided to the Regional Command to be able to deliver on its mandate.
“I’m happy the Regional Commander and his team are working very hard. We will continue to give him the support so that people of the Ashanti Region can go about their normal duties.”
