A/R: Anti-galamsey Team Seizes Seven Excavators Along Pra River
Seven excavators and other illegal mining equipment along the River Pra have been seized by the Ashanti Regional Anti-galamsey Task Force.
The operation was carried out at New Ebudiase by the Task Force made up of National Security, Police, Mineral Commission and Environmental Protection Agency.
The equipment that was retrieved included seven excavators, two generators, two motorbikes and pump action guns.
The team immediately demobilized five of the excavators, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, announced in a Facebook post on Thursday.
“Seized items were brought to the RCC,” he relayed.
Meanwhile, he reiterated orders for illegal miners to stay away from the forest reserves and river bodies
Additionally, he directed all miners to cover pits after mining on concessions.
“The Government is ready to assist all who want to mine responsibly,” he emphasized, adding that the government will not countenance irresponsible mining.
