Foiled Intended Rituals Killing: Girl In Police Custody
The eleven-year-old girl whose father took her to a priest with the intent of using her for a ritual purpose is safe in Police custody, the Police have assured.
The police said efforts are underway to reunite her with her family.
Per the details of the police, Evans Oppong, the suspect currently in police custody and a resident of Fise, took the girl to a native priest at Oyibi Kom in Accra on June 2, 2022.
“The suspect’s arrest followed information provided by a patriotic citizen to the police, and we are grateful to him for his selfless service which has saved the life of the child involved”, a statement released by the police said.
The suspect is in police custody assisting in investigations according to the police.
Evans was arrested after a priest who identified himself as Nana Adu Boafo Junior called the police when Evans called on his residence to embark on his riches agenda.
According to the priest, Evans just returned from abroad and sought to sacrifice two out of his twelve children to make money.
“This man came from overseas and says he is facing financial difficulties. He has twelve kids and so has decided to sacrifice two of them for a money ritual”, the herbalist said in the video.
In a viral video, Evans was covered from the waist with a plain white cloth with a pot beside him and seated on a stool on the compound of a house purported to be the herbalist’s, obviously waiting for her innocent daughter who was comfortably seated in the living room, to be killed.
He was, however, stunned by the sudden presence of police officers.
“He promised me 10,000 GHc and other good surprises after the rituals”, the herbalist disclosed in a Facebook post.
According to him, Evans picked the girl from her school during lesson hours with the excuse of buying her a new dress and sent her there to be killed.
Nana Adu Boafo noted that native priest are not as barbaric as portrayed in movies.
“I am a military officer and a disciplined one for that matter. I don’t do such a thing. I want to prove to the whole world and my neighbours that traditional herbalists are not wicked. We don’t kill people as portrayed in movies. This man is a bad man.”
