New US Envoy To Ghana Meets Foreign Minister
H.E. Ms. Virginia E. Palmer, the new United States Ambassador to Ghana has presented her credentials to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey.
Palmer will be representing the USA after the tenure of Stephanie S. Sullivan came to an end.
She met the Minister on Tuesday, May 10, 2022.
During the meeting, Shirley highlighted the excellent bilateral relations that exist between Ghana and the United States of America and expressed the hope that the new envoy would contribute to the deepening of cooperation between the two countries, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs relayed.
According to the MoFA, H.E. Ms. Palmer is a seasoned diplomat who has devoted much of her 35-year career to African Affairs.
MoFA says prior to her appointment, Palmer served as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for the State Department’s Bureau of Energy Resources.
She has also served as U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Malawi and as Deputy Chief of Mission and Chargé d’Affaires a.i. at the U.S. Embassy in South Africa, MoFA noted.
Sullivan left Ghana on Saturday, April 9, 2022, after three and a half years of service in the country.
