“I’ll Cut Your Neck”: Lebanese Who Threatened Ghanaian Declared Wanted

The Lebanon Embassy in Accra has urged Ghanaian law authorities to apprehend a Lebanese man who was captured on film threatening to slit a Ghanaian’s throat.

The bearded man captured in the viral video wielding a sword from a sheath was heard screaming: “come out, come out. I will cut your neck” as a group of Ghanaian men tried to calm him in the heat of the melee at the Osu Oxford Street.

The Lebanese embassy denounced the crime and demanded that the authorities investigate and “take appropriate measures against the culprit.”

“We reject all forms of violence and intimidation, as well as anyone who does not treat the people of the host country with respect and in accordance with applicable laws,” the embassy posted on Facebook.

The Ghana Police Service also served notice on Tuesday (12 April) that they are pursuing various leads about the incident.

“This viral video has come to our attention and we are working on it,” the police captioned the 14-second long video on Facebook.

Iddrisu Yusif, the Ghanaian who had the encounter with the Lebanese, told Asaase Radio in Accra this morning that the latter parked at the place where he sells shoes and after an hour requested him to move his vehicle, which ended in the unprovoked attack.

“I didn’t do anything wrong to him… I’m not feeling good at all, and I don’t know why. I don’t know what is happening to me.”
Yusif said he has reported the case to the police.
