Police Solicit Lead To Arrest Two Out Of 3 Who Attacked Traders
The police in the Upper East Region have appealed to the chiefs and people of Nyariga to volunteer any piece of information that will lead to the arrest of two out of the three suspected robbers who attacked traders from the Nyariga market.
The three suspected robbers attacked the traders on February 27, 2022, at the Nyariga Forest along the Bolgatanga-Nyariga stretch.
Upon receiving a tip-off about the robbery operation, the police patrol team stormed the scene of the alleged robbery attack.
“Upon getting to the said location, the team encountered three young men wielding pump-action guns”, it reported.
In an ensuing shootout between the police and the suspected robbers, one of the suspects was gunned down and died while the rest of the suspects managed to bolt, the police have said.
The statement added that “Items retrieved from him (the deceased) included the pump-action gun with serial No. MVS4951A loaded with five (5) rounds of BB cartridge ammunition he was using. Also, a backpack containing eleven (11) rounds of the same BB cartridge ammunition was retrieved from the scene”.
His body has been deposited at the Regional Hospital Morgue for preservation, it is reported.
