Otumfuo Counsels Media General On Effective Reporting That Will Aid The Nation’s Development
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has advised Media General to give less attention to political stories and focus more on education, agriculture, and health issues to bring development to the country.
Otumfuo commended the group for their efforts however cautioned that their reportage should be factual and the decision should be left for the public to decide.
“What we’ve heard is what you should report and not your thoughts, leave that one for the public to decide. The country will develop based on the facts you report.”
“We haven’t seen you report false stories and the rest, keep it up.”
He further encouraged that they go the extra mile to bring to bare the undiscoverable to their viewership and listenership.
“Currently it’s been all about politics, it’s not of any benefits, after elections the country development matters: school and agricultural matters, unemployment.
Someone somewhere upon his research has not been recognized, yet their work when looked into can contribute to advancement.”
These are the issues you need to report on, what’s happening in the agriculture and mining sector yet such issues have been left unattended and the focus is on politics.
The advice came when the management of Media General paid a courtesy call on Otumfuo at his palace where the Group CEO, Beatrice Agyemang informed the Asante Monarch of the commencement of their annual assessment project in the region.
She said that the group is poised to serve the public the best of programs and that new programs are yet to be introduced. She promised to focus on improving cultural practices with their programs and focus on the holistic improvement of their viewership.
Madam Agyemang was in the company of the Board Chairman, Mr. Kojo Yankah, the Director of Television, Francis Doku, and others.
Madam Agyemang expressed gratitude for the support and blessings before asking for another for their task ahead.
