Asantehemaa Marks 5th Anniversary
Today, Sunday, February 6, 2022 marks exactly five (5) years since the Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III ascended the Nyarko Kusiamoah and Konadu Yiadom Stool as Queen of the Asante Kingdom.
She is the 14th Queen of the kingdom.
A thanksgiving ceremony and a durbar were held at the Manhyia Palace in commemoration of the anniversary.
The event was under the auspices of His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene and was dignified by Asantehemaa Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III, Her Royal Highness Lady Julia Osei Tutu, wife of Asantehene, Hon. Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten, Minister of Trade and Industry, traditional rulers, state officials and gospel musicians.
Diana Hamilton, Obaapa Christy and Daughters of Glorious Jesus performed during the thanksgiving service which took place in the morning.
At the 2nd durbar organised in the afternoon, a tribute was paid to the Queen by attendees.
The durbar was also spiced up with an exceptional performance from Obaapa Christy and Daughters of Glorious Jesus.
The ten days celebration of the 5th Anniversary will climax with a Grand Awukudae Durbar under the distinguished patronage of His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, on February 16, 2022.
Nana Konadu Yiadom III who is the eldest sister of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, succeeded her mother, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II who passed away on 15 November 2016 at the age of 109.
