Guinea President Demands Balance After Exit From AFCON- Report Says

Sports Journalist, Saddick Adams has just reported Guinea’s President Mamady Doumbouya has demanded the rest of the money that was meant to cover the quarter-final, semi-final, and finals of Guinea’s National football team in the AFCON games.

The order follows the group’s exit from the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) after losing to the Gambia on Monday, January 24, 2022, failing to make it to the quarter-finals.

In a tweet, the Ghanaian sports journalist announced that the mastermind behind Guinea’s recent coup and now president of the country, Doumbouya says he has forgiven the players for failing to win the trophy.

However, he wants the rest of the money paid into the state’s coffers.

“President Mamady Doumbouya has forgiven the team. Says his ultimatum was just to encourage them. He understands team building takes time.

BUT, the money given to the team covered QF, Semi-final, and final games and that must be returned to the state coffers”, Saddick tweeted.

The new president issued an ultimatum to the team to return to their home country with either the trophy or the money invested in them.

“Bring back the trophy or bring back the money we invested in you. Period,” Doumbouya is quoted by Soccer24 to have said before the team set off to Cameroon for the games.
