We Beat Asokwa Deportivo With Experience- Johnson Smith

Assistant coach for Asante Kotoko, Johnson Smith, has indicated that his lads relied on experience to eliminate Asokwa Deportivo from the MTN FA Cup Round of 16.
The Porcupines had to put up a 24-karat performance to progress to the Round of 8 of the MTN FA Cup competition thanks to Fabio Gama and Evans Adomako first half goals.
The Defending champions came under enormous pressure after Asokwa Deportivo cancelled one of the goals through Afriyie Boateng in the second half.
Nonetheless, goalkeeper Razak Abalora stood firm to pull off brilliant saves to deny the Asokwa-based team from equalising to take the game to penalty kicks.
Speaking after the hard-fought victory, Coach Smith said, “Playing against lower tier sides in such competitions is always dicey and especially from the same area. The players know themselves so we had to use experience to qualify.”
Asante Kotoko is the first to have qualified to the Round of Eight and they will be waiting for the likes of Hearts of Oak, AshantiGold and other teams who will be playing today.
