Chief of Sokwai reacts to challenges of residents.
Nana Agyei Addo, Chief of Sokwai has said the construction of a school and a new toilet facility is underway.
Speaking with Opemsuo radio’s Adwoa Serwaa Yonkodo, he said contractors are on these sites already.
This comes after residents of Sokwai in the Ashanti Region spelt out their challenges in the absence of a proper toilet facility, schools and damaged bridge.
“The construction of a toilet facility has began. We have temporal toilet facilities but the government has to expedite the construction of the new one”,
“Three small towns, Nsukwai, Akwaboa and Ntensere came together to construct a school, we decided to construct it at the centre of the district. We have now given a large plot of land to the government where the construction of a school has began”, Nana Agyei said.
According to him, the relevant stakeholders for the construction of the damaged bridge have been consulted yet to no avail.
“The issue of bridge is a difficult one for us. We brought in the MP, DCE and Feeder roads, Laban to monitor it but all they tell us is that it has been awarded to a contractor”, he said.
Sokwai is a community in the Atwima Nwabigya North constituency in the Ashanti region of Ghana
