The Law Should Be Applied To Carlos As It Was Applied To Christian Nupeta- Mr. Asante of AFAG
The Vice Chairman for Alliance For Accountable Governance (AFAG) Mr. Henry Asante has stated that no one is above the law and so must the law be applied to all manner of persons.
Christian Nukpeta, a 39 year old was on December 11 sentenced and fined by the Takoradi High Court for snatching a ballot box during the December 7 general election.
Member of Parliament for the Tema West constituency, Honourable Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah was captured in a video snatching and bolting with some uncountered ballot papers in parliament during the election of a Speaker.
Speaking on Nkwantanso on Opemsuo FM, Mr. Asante said “what he (Carlos Ahenkorah) did was a criminal act else we would have sued him ourselves. It should be State against Ahenkora to serve as a lesson.”
“He has apologized, yes and we have accepted his apology but that’s not all. If that should be the case then if anyone steals a goat or a bag of cassava and is sued in court, he/she has to be freed after apologising.”
“The case of Christian is a very pathetic scene but that is the law. There is no difference between the two instances.”
The law which held the young man(Christian) responsible should also hold Carlos responsible.”
