Not All Ministers Will Have Deputies- Mahama
President John Dramani Mahama has announced plans to keep some Ministries without deputies.
At the swearing-in ceremony of six vetted and approved new Ministers on January 22, 2025, he said he would be naming deputy Ministers for some Ministries in the coming days.
He intends to keep his promise to keep a cabinet of 60 Ministers, he noted.
“As the Ministers are approved by Parliament as they are sworn in, I will proceed to name deputy Ministers for some of the Ministers which will bring the total Ministers to 60 as I promised the people of Ghana.”
By this, he said he would run the country’s leanest government of all time.
“This will make this government Ghana’s leanest and most efficient government ever in history.”
So far, the President has named 42 sector Ministers.
With the approval of six, there remain 32 nominees to be vetted and approved by parliament to begin their work.
The six that were sworn in were Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minister for Finance, Dr. Dominic Ayine, Attorney General and John Jinapor, the Minister for Energy and Green Transition.
The rest are Haruna Iddrisu, the Minister for Education, Eric Opoku, the Minister for Food and Agriculture, and Governs Kwame Agbodza, the Minister for Roads and Highways.
