Ogum Hails Kwame Opoku

Head Coach Presper Narteh Ogum has hailed the on-field and off-field performance of forward Kwame Opoku.

Visibly one could tell that the head coach was satisfied by his December signing who made a comeback to the club.

The 27-year-old who reps in the “iconic” number 31 jersey, has four goals in three games since signing to rejoin the club.

Following his two-goal contribution to Kotoko’s 4-1 win against Visions FC on Sunday, Dr Ogum hailed him as an “amazing” player.

“He’s been able to integrate into the team. His confidence in the team, his composure in the team, his contribution off the field to make sure there is a lot of humour, a lot of laughter in the team, trying to encourage everybody at training.”

In his words, Opoku is a top marksman.

“If you look at his goals scoring abilities, it is fantastic. If you look at the goals he scored today, brilliance goals, top marksman goals. If you look at his positioning and repositioning…he is able to move into a different orientation while we have the ball.

“Any time he does that it creates an opportunity for himself or for a teammate and I think these are things we need in front of goal, these are things we need when we have the ball. I am so happy for him.”

He used the occasion to encourage him to continue to give out his best.

“I want to encourage him to keep his determination and know the team he is playing for. He shouldn’t drop his head, he should keep his head up and know the sky will be the limit for him.”
