Boycott ORAL Committee Summons- Minority to Ex-Gov’t Officials
The Minority in Parliament has encouraged former government officials to boycott summons by the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) committee established by the new government.
At a press conference in Parliament on January 15, 2025, the Member of Parliament for Suame Constituency, John Darko said the body is ultra vires.
Additionally, it faulted the committee for harassing targeted former officials.
“They are going about disturbing people, entering homes, seizing vehicles, and confiscating lands from individuals who have lawfully acquired them. This is nothing short of harassment, and it must stop.”
It therefore advised against honouring invitations to the committee summons.
“Our advice to outgone government officials is clear: boycott any invitation from this so-called ORAL team. We refuse to participate in or recognise its activities because constitutionally established institutions already exist to investigate any alleged misdeeds.”
