21 African Presidents to Attend Mahama’s Inauguration

The Ministry of Information has confirmed the attendance of 21 African heads of states to the inauguration of President-elect, John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday, January 7, 2025.

In a statement announcing preparations towards the ceremony slated to take place at Independence Square, it also said three vice Presidents, four Ministers and 24 envoys had confirmed their attendance as of January 6.

“We appreciate the overwhelming support and solidarity from the international community and look forward to welcoming them.”

Road Closure
As part of the preparation, the Ministry announced the closure of some roads in parts of the regional capital.

The affected roads include Osu T/L to Parliament House, AU Roundabout, roads linking to Parliament, the Security area at Parliament and the road from Osu Cemetery to Parliament.

These roads would however be open to parliamentarians, parliamentary workers and their vehicles.

It added, “The temporary road closure is necessary to facilitate the safe passage of dignitaries and general public attending the inauguration.”

Apologising for the inconvenience, it urged the public to comply with the traffic diversion.
