McDan Aviation Denies Owing $3 million Amid Closure of Jet Terminal
McDan Aviation has denied claims that it owes the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) a whopping debt of over $3 million, motivating the closure of its private jet terminal at terminal One of the Kotoko International Airport.
It was reported that the debt was accumulated from land leases, rentals, and terminal charges.
However, a statement issued by the Chief Executive Officer of McDan Aviation, Kwaku Ampronfi, denied the claims and acknowledged its financial obligations concerning the operation of the Fixed Base Operator (FBO) terminal.
He further emphasized that the company had made significant payments in the past with the most recent payment being made last week with plans to resume further payments in January 2025.
Additionally, it highlighted a legal dispute involving a parcel of land acquired from GACL, stemming from claims by a third party. According to the report, McDan Aviation had notified GACL that payments related to the disputed land would be withheld pending the outcome of the court proceedings.
Mr Ampronfi described as “regrettable” the sudden move by the GACL.
“It is regrettable that GACL has chosen to take this line of action, particularly when the matters at hand are not interconnected,” said Mr Ampronfi.
