NDC Orders Supporters to Retreat From Collation Centres
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has issued an order for all its supporters stationed at collation centres of the Electoral Commission across the country to retreat.
Commending their dexterity and prowess in protecting the ballot, the General Secretary of the NDC, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey said they have exhibited dedication and vigilance to safeguard the integrity of the polls.
“Your role has been invaluable and we urge you to remain calm and confident as we continue to work in your interest,” he said in a statement issued on December 10.
“At this juncture, we call on all of you, our members who have dutifully stationed yourselves at collation centres across the country to now leave these centres and return home,” he added.
The rest of the work, it noted, would be managed by the technical staff and leadership of the party, it announced.
“Our party’s leadership together with our experienced professionals is fully prepared and equipped to ensure that every aspect of the collation and declaration process is handled diligently and transparently.”
He also assured them of their resolve to protect the votes of all electorates.
The Parliamentary election results declaration has been marred with some violence in parts of the country with some constituencies yet to complete the collation process for the announcement of the winner.
The Electoral Commission (EC) has since directed the suspension of processes to resolve nine parliamentary disputes across the country until further notice.
