Hoping NDC MPs Will Oppose Ex-Gratia Increment- MFWA Boss
The Executive Director of Media Foundation for West Africa, Sulemana Braimah, has expressed his expectations as the current Parliament buckles its boot to come to a close.
He is looking forward to a strong “opposition” from the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Members of Parliament if a proposal for adjustment is presented to the House.
The opposition party as part of its manifesto says it would scrap the highly resented “end-of-term” benefits for members of the executive.
This provision made under Article 71 of the 1992 Constitution is highly protested by Ghanaians who believe the beneficiaries enjoy many conditions of service.
Days before the end of the eighth Parliament, Braimah took to X, formerly Twitter, to express his expectation which is premised on the current state of the country’s economy.
“Given how bad the economy is, I look forward to a very solid and robust opposition from NDC MPs to proposals by the government for adjustments or increment to Ex-Gratia for MPs of the 8th Parliament.”
