Mahama Poses 5 Questions to Bawumia
Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has posed five questions to his fiercest contender in the upcoming Presidential election, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in relation to economic affairs.
The questions were put forth as part of his campaign trail in the Northern Region.
The questions further bulleted on a flyer has been posted on his Facebook page demanding an urgent response from the Vice President who is also the 2024 Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Asking the questions on Monday, October 28, the former President recollected the 170 questions Bawumia posed to his Vice President, Amissah Arthur, while he was in opposition.
He asked, “Why has the cedi deteriorated in value from GHC4 to $1 to almost GHC17 to $1 today? Why has Ghana’s public debt risen from GHC120 bn in 2016 to GHC763 in 2024 with you as EMT chair? Why did inflation rise to its highest in the 4th Republic to 54% under your watch as EMT chair?
“Why have you run away from giving lectures on the economy? Why has the word ‘economy’ disappeared from your lexicon?”
This has received a quick response from the campaign team of Bawumia.
In a Facebook post, the Director of Communication for the team, Miracle Dennis Aboagye said the answers are ready for submission in a presidential debate.
“The answers are ready, come and Debate and get your answers… Why are you running?”
Meanwhile, Mr Mahama has consistently evaded a Presidential debate with Dr Bawumia.
A few weeks ago, he justified his entrenched stance saying, “I will not elevate Bawumia by debating him. He should find his level. I know my level.”
